Annie,
I was just talking with a friend about the conference in Eugene in April. If you are in town, I would love to get together. Are you thinking of moving to Oregon?

I believe your statement 'It was a joint decision b/w my doc, my nurse, and myself to go ahead with pitocin." is really what its all about. You were respected and involved in the "decision making process" in choosing a medical intervention. All women need to be informed of the risks and than respected for their choices. I would like to know if you received any analgesic, epidural anesthesia or any other medical intervention.
Thanks for sharing.

You have made the transition I plan on making in the next few years - I think I'll be following you and will hope to take you out for a cup of coffee some day. Maybe next April when I come out from CT to the Midwife Conference...

I had pit w/ my second babe... I'm an L&D nurse and delivered at the hospital I work. It was a joint decision b/w my doc, my nurse, and myself to go ahead with pitocin. My plan was to not have any augmentation, but we ended up making that choice after my membranes ruptured and I had severe meconium staining. I wasn't having any ctxs, even after several hours of walking, etc. I wasn't thrilled about being on pit, but it definately didn't throw me into horrible labor, in fact, it was actually more manageable than my first labor... I had time b/w ctxs and they lasted 60-90 seconds. Anyway, everything turned out fine, besides having a very large babe, which of course had nothing to do with the pitocin ;-)
Thanks for sharing your story and the link. I like hearing people's stories and opinions!
Good luck on your work towards being a midwife!
